Meeting Sept 23 at 7:00

The Shark End Zone Club will hold a meeting on Tuesday night I the Coaches’ Office at 7:00. Topics for discussion may include the golf outing, fundraising projects, upcoming schedule, etc… All parents are encouraged to participate.

Sharks Take a Bite Out of the Bears

In their first District game, our Gulf Coast Sharks beat the Palmetto Ridge Bears 18 – 7! Through 3 quarters the game seemed evenly contested but the Sharks scored a touchdown to begin the fourth quarter and outlasted a weather delay to claim a victory. Currently, the Sharks share first place in the district with Naples High School. Great job, Team! Thank you to the loyal fans who stuck it out through the deluge and our volunteers in the merchandise tent! Thank you to the Cheerleading Team for pumping-up the crowd, even in the storm. Game night was also Senior Night for the GCHS Marching Band. Congratulations and good luck to those seniors!

Football Golf Outing

Saturday October 4th at La Playa Golf Club the Shark End Zone Club will be hosting the 8th Annual Fall Football Golf Classic. Registration is $125 and includes breakfast, lunch, golf and prizes. There are opportunities for $100 hole sponsorships, as well. If you are not a golfer and would like to come for the luncheon only, you can do so for only $35. This is a lot of fun! Please contact Lucia Dillard (273-7739) or Rob Sheriffs (398-3225) for details.

Palmetto Bears Come to Gulf Coast

On Friday September 19th, the Palmetto Ridge Bears come to Gulf Coast for the first District game for both teams. The Bears also hold a 2 – 1 record but the Sharks are hungry to avenge the close loss from last year. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm. Friday night will also be Band Senior Night.

The Freshmen and JV teams host Golden Gate on Thursday September 18th. Kick-off will be at 5:00 and 7:00. The Junior Varsity team holds a 1 – 1 record while the freshmen are undefeated at 1 – 0.

Come on out and support your Gulf Coast Sharks!

Red Knights Outlast the Sharks

The Sharks faced their first real test on the road at North Fort Myers. After trailing 20 – 6 at the half, the Sharks showed determination by biting and chewing their way back into the game and took the lead in the 4th quarter. Good job, Sharks. However, the Red Knights scored late for the victory.

Sharks Start the Season in a Frenzy

Our GC Shark Football Team is off to a terrific start!  After a 62 – 0 win against Miami Coral Park in the Kick-Off Classic, the Sharks have cruised to victories against Pembroke Pines and Westland, 63 – 6 and 72 – 0, respectively.  Scoring seems to be coming from all aspects of the game: offensive, defense and special teams.  The Sharks will be taking their high scoring game on the road to North Fort Myers this Friday for a 7:30 start.  We hope to see everyone there in support of our Shark Football Program.

The Freshmen and JV teams both defeated Palmetto Ridge last week and will be hosting Immokalee, Golden Gate and Estero on a 3 game home stand beginning this week on Thursday at 5:00 and 7:00.  Come and enjoy some exciting football!

On game days:

  • ALL parking fees are split between the Lady Sharks Basketball Program and the GCHS Activities Department;
  • ALL gate receipts, including ALL reserved seats for Shark End Zone Club members, go to the GCHS Activities Department; and
  • ALL concession proceeds go to the GCHS Marching Band.

The GCHS Football Program is largely funded through donations and the fundraising efforts of the Shark End Zone Club.

Please support the Shark Football Program by becoming involved with the Shark End Zone Club!

The Shark End Zone Club would like to thank all the players, coaches, parents and community members contributing to a successful football season.
